About Choose a Message

Main Navigation Bar > Phone (Messages group)

Messages are sorted under category tabs.  Choose a message in one of the categories to view, reply, forward, and print a message.

Category tabsMessage tabs include:
  • Unread Phone: New messages originating from phone calls.
  • Unread Portal: New messages originating from the Patient Portal.
  • Unread External: New messages originating outside the practice.
  • Needs Action: Messages that have been marked 'Act Req'.
  • Read: Messages marked as 'Read' from the Unread Phone tab.*
  • Sent: All sent messages 
(*Messages can be invalidated by the original sender from the Sent tab).

Message GridDisplays the list of available messages.

New Message The New Message button opens a new message window.

Comment The Comment button allows you to add a comment and saves the message in the patient chart without sending it to a recipient.

Reply The Reply button opens the message in Reply mode with the original sender as the recipient.

Reply All The Reply All button opens the message in Reply mode with all original recipients marked to receive the reply.

Forward The Forward button opens the message in reply mode without a recipient selected.  Select a recipient to receive the message.

ScopeScope narrows the parameters for the displayed messages.  Messages can be determined by viewers, dates, and confidential.

About Choose a Message

Path: Smart Toolbar > Messages button

 Path: Smart Toolbar > Chart button > Messages tab

Click on the Message (Telephone icon) button or the Messages tab to open the Messages window.  Messages are sorted under category tabs.  Choose a message in one of the categories to view, reply, forward, and print a message.
