Overview

Demographic information about patients has been enhanced to capture the following:

• Race and Ethnicity:  Both data points are enhanced in order to drill down on more specific details about an individual’s race or ethnicity through a hierarchy.  However, all detailed selections still work their way up to the existing high level classifications.  For example, Cherokee is equal to American Indian while Irish is equivalent to White.

• Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity:  Added as data points to capture for any patient on the Register.  Note: There is a practice level option where it is defaulted to withhold all sensitive demographic information from being sent to any third party (e.g., through an interface) but it will be visible to all OP users.
