About eRx Renewal Request Summary

Path: Main Navigation bar > Refill Requests > Prescription(s) with a Request Type of Refill > Accept/Deny button

The eRx Renewal Request window is used to accept or deny prescription refills initiated by the pharmacy.

As-Prescribed PatientThe As-Prescribed Patient section contains the patient's information as it was sent to the pharmacy with the original prescription.

The As-Prescribed Medication section contains the medication information as it was originally sent to the pharmacy.

As-Dispensed Refill RequestThe As-Dispensed Refill Request section indicates the patient's information for the refill request.
4As-Dispensed MedicationThe As-Dispensed Medication section contains the medication information as it will be dispensed to the patient by the pharmacy.
5PharmacyThe Pharmacy section contains the information for the pharmacy initiating the request.

PrescriberThe Prescriber section contains the information for the prescriber of the medication.

Accept buttonThe Accept button is used to accept the renewal request and send an approval message to the pharmacy.

Replace buttonThe Replace button is used when a change needs to be made to what is being requested. Clicking the Replace button opens the Prescription Writer window, where the changes can be made, or a new medication can be prescribed in place of what was requested. 
9Refill countThe Refill Count field is used to add additional refills to what the pharmacy has requested. The refill count cannot be zero in order to accept the renewal request.

Deny button and Denial ReasonThe Deny button is used to deny the renewal request for reasons such as if the patient needs an appointment before the refill can be made or if it is too soon to refill the medication. These options, among others, are available in the Denial reason drop-down. A reason is required when sending a denial back to the pharmacy. Requests that are denied are displayed in the Refills/Changes Denied tab of the ePrescribing Center.
11Prescription Fill Status fieldThe Prescription Fill Status field is only displayed if the logged-in provider is enabled for the RxFill service. This drop-down is used by the provider to inform the pharmacy of what type of status update he/she would like to see for the prescription.
12Cancel buttonThe Cancel button exits the eRx Renewal Request Summary window.

You can use the eRx Refill Summary window to accept or deny prescription refills.

Refill Request GridThe Refill Request grid lists the pending prescription

Supervisor dropdownThe Supervisor dropdown selects a Supervising Provider when it is necessary.  The Supervisor is then included in the message OP 14 sends to Surescripts.

Accept buttonThe Accept button function accepts the medication refill.

Deny buttonThe Deny button denies the medication refill.  To deny a prescription, choose the Denial Reason and then click the Deny button.  Denied refills will appear under the Refills Denied tab.
