Overview
Typically the edition of the Operating System (OS) you are running will appear when booting up your PC. However, if you are already running Windows and don't wish to reboot or you need to determine if you are running the 32 or 64-bit versions of your OS, you can do this within the OS. The method to determine your Windows version will depend on the OS that you are running. Luckily, most of the methods are similar. Below are some ways to find out your version of Windows.
Windows 10 or 11
- Right-click the Windows icon at far left of the row of icons on the taskbar at the bottom of your main Windows screen.
- Select System in the menu that appears. The OS System screen appears.
- Locate the edition of Windows under the Windows edition field.
- Under System you will see System type, which will indicate if you are running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of the Operating System.
