ICD-10 Code Updates Effective 10/1/2019

Overview

Every October, Office Practicum uses Health Language to access and update the complete list of diagnosis codes. It’s important to update templates, diagnostic tests, screenings and favorites to include these new codes and remove those codes which are retired/removed. 

Note: A subscription to the AAP Coding Newsletter can also keep your practice well informed. The new diagnosis codes for Pediatrics are as follows:

Congenital deformities of feet

Q66.0- Congenital talipes equinovarus

Q66.1- Congenital talipes calcaneovarus

Q66.3- Other congenital varus deformities of feet

Q66.4- Congenital talipes calcaneovalgus

Q66.7- Congenital pes cavus

Q66.9- Congenital deformity of feet, unspecified

The appropriate fifth character to be added to these codes 0—unspecified foot 1—right foot 2—left foot.

Note: Z11.1 (Encounter for screening for respiratory tuberculosis), is now accompanied with a note that specifies you should use the code for patients with the active form of the condition. Screening patients who appear well but are at risk, should now be accompanied by Z11.7.
