Function-Specific Improved Functionality

Reports / Demographic Analysis/Recall

Function:

When the end user accesses the Demographic Analysis/Recall report to view patient demographics, depending on the number of patients at the Practice, OP 14 may experience slowness in generating the report. OP 14 needs to generate the report without delays.

Solution:

Enhanced the software so that OP 14 generates the Demographic Analysis/Recall report without slowness even for Practices with a large number of patients.

Utilities / Manage Clinical Features / Medication Favorites

Function:

When the end user selects a drug from the Medication Favorites (whether creating a new ePrescription or refilling an existing ePrescription), there is the potential that the drug information could be outdated or that there could be minor formatting changes in the drug details.

With recent updates to the OP system to reject ePrescriptions for medications associated with an NDC # if that ePrescription does not match the NDC, this can cause a high number of ePrescriptions to be rejected.

OP software needs to alert end users that an ePrescription is being rejected for these reasons and to provide a workaround.

Solution:

Enhanced the software so that OP 14 checks certain drug information returned from the Master List and compares it to the Medication Favorite that the end user selects. If certain fields do not match exactly, OP 14 displays the error message, “The drug details associated with this NDC# are out of date. Please choose a drug from the Master List.” When the end user clicks OK, OP 14 marks the selected Medication Favorite as invalid and returns the end user to the Master List tab in the MedFinder window.

The drug details that OP 14 checks against the Master List are:

  • Form
  • Strength
  • NDC#
  • Rx Drug ID

These enhancements also apply when the end user attempts to refill a medication from the patient’s chart and the drug details copied over from the previous prescription do not match the drug details in the Master List. In this situation, OP 14 displays the message, “The drug details of this medication are out of date, please create a new prescription using your Master List.”

Function:

OP 14 needs to simplify the task of addressing numerous Medication Favorites that have outdated drug details.

Solution:

Enhanced the software so that, when the end user clicks the Validate NDC button in the Medication Favorites window, in addition to the existing functionality of identifying Medication Favorites with an invalid NDC, OP 14 also identifies Medication Favorites that have drug details that do not match the drug details in the Master List. Both of these cases would result in the Medication Favorite being marked as Invalid.

Utilities / Manage Clinical Features / Medication Favorites / Edit Drug Details

Function:

For patient-safety reasons, end users should not be able to edit critical fields in the Medications Favorites list for medications tied to an NDC #.

Solution:

Enhanced the software to ensure that end users are not able to edit critical fields in the Medications Favorites list for medications tied to an NDC #. With this enhancement, the following fields in the Edit Drug Details window are locked down for medications tied to an NDC #

  • Form
  • Strength
  • Licensing type
  • NDC#
  • Rx Drug ID
  • If an end user needs to edit these Drug Details fields, they must click the Ellipsis button at the end of the Drug or Device field and select a new drug with a valid corresponding NDC#.

Resolved Issues

Non Function-Specific Resolved Issues

Issue:

Some modal windows unexpectedly opened multiple times.

Resolution:

Updated the software to ensure that modal windows do not open multiple times.

Function-Specific Resolved Issues

Utilities / Manage Clinical Features / Medication Favorites

Issue:

When the end user clicked on the Ellipsis button for a medication on the Medications Favorites list to edit or update a Medication Favorite, OP 14 displayed the error message, “The following error occurred: no results found.” When this occurred, the end user was unable to access the Master List to locate the correct medication.

However, if the Generic Name had not been changed before clicking the Ellipsis button, the end user was able to access the Master List and select the correct medication if only the NDC # changed.

Resolution:

Updated the OP system so that OP 14 does not display an error message when the end user clicks the Ellipsis button for a medication on the Medication Favorites list. With this update, OP 14 also opens the Master List with the current medication name populated in the Search window.

Utilities / System Admin / Archive Records

Issue:

When the end user attempted to use the Bulk Archive tool to archive notes, the Bulk Archive did not archive Well Visits. Consequently, when the end user tried to finalize well visits through the Well Visits tab in either Schedule and Practice Workflow and/or the Patient Chart, it did not actually finalize them. It appeared to be processing the archive successfully, but the note still appeared unfinalized to the end user and remained on the unfinalized list within the Well Visits tab in Schedule and Practice Workflow.

Resolution:

Updated the software to ensure that the Bulk Archive tool successfully archives Well Visits. This resolution ensures that Well Visits Notes finalized using the Bulk Archive tool are successfully marked as finalized in the Well Visits tab in Schedule and Practice Workflow and the Patient Chart.

Schedule and Practice Workflow / Tracking

Issue:

When the end user attempted to open a Well Visit window from the Tracking window (by right-clicking on the Tracking window and selecting Well Visit from the popup window) without selecting an appointment, OP 14 displayed the, “Field ‘PATNO’ Not Found” error message.

Resolution:

Updated the software so that OP 14 does not display an error message when the end user opens a Well Visit from the Tracking window without selecting an appointment.

Schedule and Practice Workflow / Messages / Unread Portal

Issue:

When the end user clicked on the Unread Portal, Unread External, Needs Action, Read, or Sent tabs in the Messages window, OP 14 displayed an Access Violation error message. With this issue, closing the error message allowed the end user to access the messages on the selected tab.

Resolution:

Updated the software so that, when the end user clicks on the Unread Portal, Unread External, Needs Action, Read, or Sent tabs in the Messages window, OP 14 successfully opens the tab without displaying an error message.

Schedule and Practice Workflow / Tasks

Issue:

When the end user double-clicked on an empty space in the Tasks window, OP 14 displayed the “External exception” error message.

Resolution:

Updated the software so that OP 14 does not display an error message if the end user double-clicks on an empty space in the Tasks window.

Patient Chart / Encounter or Well Visit Note

Issue:

When the end user changed the Visibility setting on a finalized Encounter or Well Visit Note, OP 14 displayed the error message, “Update failed. Found 53 records.” With this issue, OP 14 updated the Visibility setting in all notes to the Visibility level the end user selected.

Resolution:

Updated the software to ensure that, when the end user changes the Visibility setting on a finalized Encounter or Well Visit Note, OP 14 does not display an error message and updates the Visibility level only on the selected Encounter or Well Visit Note.

Patient Chart / Medications / Prescription Writer

Issue:

When the end user attempted to save a Medication Favorite in the Prescription Writer, OP 14 displayed the error message, “Dynamic SQL Error SQL error code= -303 conversion error from string.”

Resolution:

Updated the software so that OP 14 does not display an error message when the end user saves a Medication Favorite in the Prescription writer.
