We are currently updating the OP Help Center content for the release of OP 14.19 or "OP 19". OP 19 is a member of the certified OP 14 family of products (official version is 14.19.1), which you may see in your software (such as in Help > About) and in the Help Center tabs labeled 14.19. You may also notice that the version number in content and videos may not match the version of your software, and some procedural content may not match the workflow in your software. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make these enhancements.

Function-Specific Resolved Issues

Note: The next three entries pertain to changes impacting how OP software displays diagnostic-test results in the Diagnostic Tests tab of the Schedule. For critical information and Best Practices regarding the processing of diagnostic-test results, please review the article Diagnostic Test Results Scope and Data Maintenance.

Schedule and Practice Workflow / Diagnostic Tests

Issue:

The Diagnostic Tests tab in Schedule and Practice Workflow displayed all diagnostic test results for all providers regardless of the Scope setting (that is, whether it was set to Me or to a specific Provider).

Resolution:

Updated the software to ensure that the Diagnostic Tests tab in Schedule and Practice Workflow displays diagnostic tests results in accordance to the Scope setting. If the end user selects Me as the Scope, OP software displays the diagnostic test results only for the logged-in user. If the end user selects a specific Provider, OP software displays the diagnostic test results only for the selected Provider.

Issue:

The Diagnostic Tests tab in Schedule and Practice Workflow was displaying confidential diagnostic tests to all staff members, regardless of their Clinical Level. OP software displayed these tests even if they did not have the Include EFR checkbox selected. However, this issue did not impact the Diagnostic Tests tab in the Patient Chart.

Resolution:

Updated the software so that the Diagnostic Tests tab in Schedule and Practice Workflow displays confidential diagnostic tests only to those staff members who are assigned a Clinical Level that allows access to those diagnostic tests.

Issue:

When the end user opened the Diagnostic Tests window in the Schedule, set the Scope to a date other than All, left the Diagnostic Tests tab and then returned, OP software did not change the Dates setting to All.

Resolution:

Updated the software to ensure that whenever the end user accesses the Results Received/Reviewed tab on the Diagnostic Tests window in the Schedule, OP software sets the Scope to All. This update includes the following changes:

  • Removal of the Date Range filter from data that is retrieved by and displayed in the Results Received/Reviewed tab in the Diagnostic Tests window.
  • Disabling of the Scope settings for Dates when the Results Received/Reviewed tab is selected.
For patient-safety issues, this update completely disables the Scope settings for Dates when the Results Received/Reviewed tab is selected and ensures that All diagnostic-test results display. This helps to prevent the end user from overlooking critical diagnostic-test results by selecting too narrow of a Dates setting.
  • Although the Scope settings for Dates is enabled for the Pending Requisitions and Review Date Range tabs in the Diagnostic Tests window, changing the Dates setting does not impact any of the data on any of the tabs in the Diagnostic Tests window.

Patient Chart / Diagnostic Tests

Issue:

OP software was truncating valid HL7 messages for Culture Results due to the OBX segment being sent as ST.

Resolution:

Updated the software to ensure that OP software does not truncate valid HL7 messages sent as ST. This update ensures that OP software treats the ST OBX segment as it does the TX and FT segments. With this update:

  • If the ST OBX segment is less than or equal to 150 characters, the importer acts as it always has and places the results information in the Result section of the Diagnostic Tests window.
  • If the ST OBX segment is greater than 150 characters, the importer treats it like a TX or FT OBX segment and places the results information in the Notes section of the Result Details window.

Patient Account / Claims

Issue:

If a Practice had the Insurance Payer Billing Loop set to Practice NPI, OP software pulled the NPI from the Locations tab of the Practices and Locations setup window (Utilities / Manage Practice / Practice Location), not the Practice tab of the Staff/Provider Directory. This resulted in Practices receiving rejections for electronic and paper claims for having Box 33 populated with the incorrect NPI. With this issue, OP software did not allow the duplication of the same NPI for Box 32.

Resolution:

Updated the software to ensure that OP software populates Box 33 with the correct NPI. This resolution includes the addition of the NPID Override on Claims field in the Locations tab of the Practices and Locations setup window. This field allows Practices to specify which NPI they want OP software to use to populate Box 33 for claims. With this update, OP software follows this process to populate Box 33:

  • Check for a value in the NPID Override on Claims field.

If this field is blank:

  • Check for the NPI value in the Billing/Pay-To Information section of the Practice Info tab in the Staff/Provider Directory.

With this update, the process for identifying the NPI matches the process for identifying the TIN. That is, the Correspondent and Claim Print windows incorporate all three forms of the Tax ID in this order:

  • The Tax ID entered for the specific Payer.
  • The Tax ID (Corporate) field associated with a Practice location.
  • The Tax ID entered for the specific Provider.
