Messages - Application Usage

The Messages Application is divided into two views: the Messages List and Message Details views.


  • Message List - Displayed after selecting the Current Patient, the Message List shows all messages linked to the current patient's chart. Clicking the "Details" link on the right of each message will link you to the full message. This message listing is created in various ways:
  • Portal Users can use the Write Message Application to initiate a conversation with a staff member.
  • Staff members can use Office Practicum to send a message to a portal user, relating to a particular patient.
  • The patient portal will automatically display messages sent to the office by other portal applications.


  • Message Details - After clicking the "Details" link, this screen is displayed. Each message is displayed in an email-styled message, with Subject, To, From, and Date information, followed by the message's content. If this message is a chain, the user will see all the responses in ascending chronological order.
