OP Patient Portal: Glossary -- Active Patient

The Active Patient is the patient whose information is currently being displayed on the patient portal. The Active Patient is determined by the portal user by selecting their name from the list of names on the Patients Application. Once a patient has been selected, most applications on the patient portal will begin displaying data related to the Active Patient only.

For the purposes of this documentation, the Active Patient may also be referred to as the Current Patient.

To set the active patient, do the following:

  1. Navigate to the Family Tab.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the screen. Depending on your portal's configuration, it may say something similar to "Patients" or "Click on your child's name to access their records".

  1. Patients that are currently registered with the practice, and associated with the portal user, will be available in this list. Choose one of the patients by clicking on their name.

  1. The page will reload, and you will see some large-format text at the top of the window containing the patient's name, and possibly some other information. You will now notice that this same information appears at the top of most tabs in the patient portal, designating that this patient is now Active. Only their records will be displayed.
