We are currently updating the OP Help Center content for the release of OP 14.19 or OP 19. OP 19 is a member of the certified OP 14 family of products (official version is 14.19.1), which you may see in your software (such as in Help > About) and in the Help Center tabs labeled 14.19. You may also notice that the version number in content and videos may not match the version of your software, and some procedural content may not match the workflow in your software. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make these enhancements.

OP Vaccine Resources 2019-2020 Flu Season

OP Vaccine Information 2019-2020 Flu Season Information

Keep your patients healthy and your practice running smoothly in the upcoming 2019-2020 season.

Indications and Guidance for Current Flu Season

OP will forecast 'Due' or 'Behind' starting August 1st through June 30th of the following year. During July the patient's flu status is considered 'Current'.

  • Influenza vaccines are not licensed for administration to infants younger than 6 months and should not be used in this age group.
  • Vaccinating children 9 years of age or older, the forecast calls for one influenza vaccine per season. One and done.
  • Vaccinating children 6 months through 8 years of age:
  • Need 2 doses if they have received fewer than 2 doses of any trivalent or quadrivalent influenza vaccine (IIV or LAIV) prior to July 1, 2019. The interval between the 2 doses should be at least 4 weeks (28 days).
  • Require only 1 dose if they have previously received 2 or more total doses of any trivalent or quadrivalent influenza vaccine (IIV or LAIV) prior to July 1, 2019. The 2 previous doses do not need to have been received during the same influenza season or consecutive influenza seasons.

Grace Period: ACIP allows a grace period of 4 days (i.e., vaccine doses administered up to 4 days before the recommended minimum interval or age can be counted as valid). However, the grace period should not be applied to live virus minimum intervals or any other 28 days minimum interval. Day 1 is the day before the day that marks the minimum age or minimum interval for a vaccine. If today is Friday the 5th, the earliest 4 day grace period date would have been Monday the 1st.
