OP Vaccine Information 2020-2021 Flu Season Information
Keep your patients healthy and your practice running smoothly in the upcoming 2020-2021 season.
The CDC has not yet published an updated 2020-2021 Flu VIS. At this time, they recommend continuing to use the 2019-2020 Flu VIS, interim edition dated 8/15/2019. To be notified by the CDC when this is updated, subscribe to get their email updates here.
Indications and Guidance for Current Flu Season
OP will forecast Due or Behind starting August 1st through June 30th of the following year. During July, the patient's flu vaccination status is considered Current.
Grace Period: ACIP allows a grace period of 4 days (i.e., vaccine doses administered up to 4 days before the recommended minimum interval or age can be counted as valid). However, the grace period should not be applied to live virus minimum intervals or any other 28 days minimum interval. Day 1 is the day before the day that marks the minimum age or minimum interval for a vaccine. If today is Friday the 5th, the earliest 4 day grace period date would have been Monday the 1st.

Entering Multi-Dose Vials into OP
Now that vaccines have arrived, it’s time to input all that inventory. Don’t worry about the multi-dose vials that just got delivered to your practice. Entering those lots into OP is easy to do when you follow these simple instructions. These written directions and screenshots will guide you through the process of entering the vials – broken out by age range – so your inventory is ready to go when you start your flu clinic.
If you have an interface to a vaccine registry, watch for any error messages that may be returned.
