Patient Account: Messages

Version 14.19
The Patient Account window merged with the Patient Chart for easier convenience with the creation of OP 19. Since the Help Center supports both OP 14 and OP 19, the account functions within the patient chart for OP 19 will still be referenced at the same Help Center locations as OP 14.

The Patient Chart window maintains a patient’s account.  Some of the main functions that can be performed on a patient’s account include:

  • Enter a copay
  • Post a charge manually
  • Enter hospital charges
  • Verify claim accuracy
  • Post a patient payment
  • Issue a patient refund
  • Write an account note
  • View claim history
  • Print a CMS-1500
  • Print a statement

The Messages button displays the messages sent to and from the patient.  Messages include direct messages and Patient Message Exchange messages.

Messages buttonThe Messages button opens the messages window in the Patient Chart.

New Message buttonThe New Message button opens the Message window.  The Message window creates a new message in the Message Center.

Comment buttonThe Comment button allows you to comment and save the message in the patient chart without sending to a recipient.

Reply buttonThe Reply button opens the message in Reply mode with the original sender as the recipient.

Reply All buttonThe Reply All button opens the message in Reply mode with all recipients marked to receive the reply.

Forward buttonThe Forward button opens the message in Reply mode without a recipient selected.  Select the recipient to receive the message.

Message gridThe Message grid displays the messages for the patient.

Patient Message Exchange gridThe Patient Message Exchange grid displays the messages sent to the patient through the Patient Message eXchange.

The Messages tab opens the message center.  The Message Center serves as the "control center" for correspondence and communication internal and external to your office.

Patient Account tabs

The Patient Account contains the following tabs:

Scope
The Scope field narrows the parameters for the displayed information in the patient’s account.  Information can be displayed by patient or family.

+ New Message button
The + New Message button opens the Message window.  The Message window creates a new message in the Message Center.

Comment button
The Comment button allows you to comment and saves the message in the patient chart without sending to a recipient.

Reply buttonThe Reply button opens the message in Reply mode with the original sender as the recipient.

Reply All buttonThe Reply All button opens the message in Reply mode with all recipients marked to receive the reply.

Forward buttonThe Forward button opens the message in Reply mode without a recipient selected.  Select the recipient to receive the message.

Include Prior Text checkboxThe Include Prior Text checkbox determines if the text in a highlighted message is included in replies and forwards.

Lines dropdownThe Lines dropdown determines the number of lines that are displayed for each message in the Message grid.  The range goes from 1 to 7 or complete message (0).
