Welcome to our RCM Life Newsletter. Its purpose is to provide you with helpful news and information to make your practice life better. We will include denials that we are seeing across numerous practices, key performance indicators that we’d like you to know about, and helpful news and information. This is meant to supplement the monthly meetings you have with your account manager and billing team.

We’ve made many changes to OP RCM to improve performance and increase the predictability of our services. You may have been impacted by these changes and we apologize for that.   Common Clearinghouse Rejections

Some of the most common clearinghouse rejections we see in pediatrics are typically related to diagnosis codes. Follow our suggestions and your claims will not get stopped at the clearinghouse and you will receive payment quicker.   RCM Performance Improvement Team

Our RCM Performance Improvement Team consists of Performance Improvement Specialists who focus on streamlining workflows and developing best practices for all of our RCM clients. This team includes both long-time employees of the OP RCM department as well as new, highly-skilled RCM experts. Some of these team members come from accounting professions, some from clinical fields of medicine, and others have come directly from RCM vendors and practices. Each specialist brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our RCM family. Each specialist is here to partner with OP practices to improve the performance of our RCM services.

In 2021, this team will be reviewing templates, fee schedules, claim edits and payer contracts to optimize clean claim transmissions. Clean claims mean less Denials, lower aging AR and better cash flow.

  Optum Portal User Changes

Optum Pay offers multiple options for electronic claim payments as well as access to the entire explanation of Benefits for payers in addition to UnitedHealthcare. These include: Oxford, UMR, and United Healthcare Community Plan. Optum Pay has recently made some changes. Click here to read full details and common questions and answers. Important Update: March 31, 2021 is the last day to submit a cancelation request if you enrolled in Optum Pay premium during the recent free trial period without penalty. This means you won’t be charged the $0.5% per payment fee for any claim payments.
