Rite Aid/Walgreens Pharmacy Merger

Version 14.19

Some Rite Aid Pharmacies are transitioning into Walgreens Pharmacies throughout the country. Surescripts will be updating the NCPDP IDs as the transitions take place. OP will update the Surescripts Master List twice a month.

To ensure that providers are able to prescribe to these pharmacies, the providers will first need to remove the existing pharmacy entry from the Favorites List. To remove these Rite Aid Pharmacies:

  1. Navigate to Utilities > Manage Clinical Features > Pharmacy Favorites. The Choose a Pharmacy window will open.
  2. Select the Favorites tab if it is not already selected.
  3. Choose the Rite Aid Pharmacy that will be transitioning to Walgreens. You can select multiple pharmacies by holding the Ctrl key and selecting the pharmacies.
  4. Click Remove from Favorites.
  5. Click Yes in the Confirm box to remove the selected pharmacy(ies).

Now you will need to send a script to a pharmacy listed in the SureScripts Master List tab. This will ensure that the new NCPDP ID is being used to send the script.

  1. Send the script.
  2. Verify the script has a delivered status.
  3. Click on the SureScripts Master List tab.
  4. Select the pharmacy where you sent the script.
  5. Click the Add to Favorites button.

If the script does not deliver when choosing the pharmacy from the SureScripts Master List, this will mean that the pharmacy NCPDP ID has not yet been updated in OP. Therefore, until the pharmacy has been updated by OP, you will need to print the script.
