This article teaches you how to scan a new document into OP.

Scanning a New Document 

  1. Click the Document Mgmt button in the ribbon or Documents in the patient's chart.
  2. Click the New Document button.
  3. Place the document onto the document scanner.
  4. Click the Page Scanner button.  Note: The Twain interface must be enabled by selecting the Use radio button in the Twain Use/Hide field below the device icon buttons. The scanner activates and the Scan Options window is displayed.
  5. Click the Scan button. The document is scanned. 
  6. Repeat these steps with reverse side of the page (if needed - some scanners have a duplex scan option).The image(s) are displayed in the Sketch panel. Follow the directions in the next section to label the item.
  7. Attach the images to a patient's chart by moving the images from the Sketch panel to the Thumbnail panel. 

Labeling the Document

  1. Select the Image in the Sketch panel.
  2. Move the Page(s) to the Thumbnails panel.
  3. In the Document Details Panel, under Patient Information, search for and select the Patient in the Patient ID field.
  4. In the Document Details Panel, under Review Details, select the appropriate Item Type.
  5. Select the appropriate Item Category.
  6. Select the Reviewed checkbox if the item does not need to be reviewed by anyone else, or leave it blank, and ensure that the Addressed To field is populated with the intended reviewers name.
  7. Select the appropriate Status (optional) of Original option. 
  8. Click the Save button.

Scan a New Document 

  1. Click the Docs button on the smart toolbar to open the Document Management window.

  1. Click the New Document button.
  2. Place the document onto the document scanner.
  3. Click the Document Scan button .  The Twain interface must be enabled by selecting the Use radio button in the Twain Use/Hide field below the device icon buttons. The scanner activates and the Scan Options window is displayed.
  4. Click the Scan button located in the lower-right corner of the Scan Options window. The document is scanned. 
  5. Repeat these steps with the reverse side of the page (if needed, however some scanners have a duplex scan option). The image(s) are displayed appear in the Sketch panel. 
  6. Follow the directions in the next section to label the item.
  7. Attach the images to a patient's chart by moving the images from the Sketch panel to the Thumbnail panel. 

Labeling the Document

  1. Select the Image in the Sketch panel.
  2. Move the Page(s) to the Thumbnails panel.
  3. Select the Patient searching for the Patient ID in the Document Details Panel.
  4. Select the Insurance from the Item Type drop-down menu.
  5. Select the appropriate Item Category.
  6. Select the Reviewed checkbox.
  7. Under Administrative Details in the Document Details panel, select In Patient's Chart from the Status of Original field (optional).
  8. Click the Save button.
